Application Brass coil has high corrosion resistance and good plasticity. It is easy to carry out cold and hot pressure processing in the air, and is easy to weld, forge and tin. There is no tendency of stress corrosion cracking.

Density:

Melting point:

The melting point of brass varies depending on its composition but typically ranges from 880°C to 950°C. This relatively lower melting point compared to stainless steel makes brass easier to process and cast into various shapes, such as coils.

Coefficient of thermal expansion:

The coefficient of thermal expansion for brass is moderate, approximately 19-22 × 10⁻⁶/°C in the range of room temperature to 100°C. This characteristic ensures good dimensional stability in environments with fluctuating temperatures.

Thermal conductivity:

Brass exhibits excellent thermal conductivity, with a coefficient of about 109-125 W/(m·K), which is significantly higher than that of stainless steel. This property makes brass an ideal material for heat exchangers and other applications requiring efficient heat transfer.

Electrical conductivity:

Brass has good electrical conductivity, although it is lower than pure copper. The electrical conductivity of brass typically ranges from 25% to 40% of that of pure copper, depending on its composition. This makes it suitable for electrical components and connectors.

Corrosion resistance:

Brass coil exhibits good corrosion resistance, especially in atmospheric and freshwater environments. A naturally formed oxide layer on its surface protects it from further oxidation. However, in the presence of ammonia, certain acids, or high-moisture environments, stress corrosion cracking may occur. Adding elements like aluminum or tin improves its corrosion resistance, particularly in marine environments.

Antioxidation:

Brass has moderate oxidation resistance at room temperature and high temperatures. Alloys with higher copper content exhibit better resistance to oxidation, making them suitable for use in moderately high-temperature applications.

Chemical stability:

In general chemical media, brass demonstrates good stability and does not easily react with weak acids or alkalis. However, in strong corrosive environments, such as exposure to hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, or ammonium compounds, the corrosion resistance of brass may be compromised.

Passivation:

Unlike stainless steel, brass does not form a passive film in the same way. However, surface treatments such as electroplating or lacquering can enhance its corrosion resistance and durability by creating a protective barrier against environmental factors.
