The density is generally around 7.98g/cm³. For example, the density of 316L stainless steel coil is approximately 7.98g/cm³, which is slightly higher than ordinary carbon steel and comparable to other austenitic stainless steels like 304.

Melting point:

The melting point is relatively high, generally around 1375-1450℃. For example, the melting point of 316L stainless steel is about 1399-1440℃, which makes it suitable for use in high-temperature environments while maintaining stability.

Coefficient of thermal expansion:

The coefficient of thermal expansion is relatively small. In the range of room temperature to 100℃, the coefficient of thermal expansion of 316L stainless steel is about 15.9×10⁻⁶/℃. This feature enables it to maintain good dimensional stability even in environments with significant temperature fluctuations.

Thermal conductivity:

The thermal conductivity is poor, and its thermal conductivity coefficient is about 16.2 W/(m・K), which is much lower than that of copper, aluminum, and other metals. This property gives it certain thermal insulation characteristics, making it suitable for specific industrial applications.

Electrical conductivity:

It has certain electrical conductivity, but the conductivity is relatively low. The conductivity of 316L stainless steel is about 1.3×10⁶ S/m, which is only about 3.8% of the conductivity of copper. Chemical properties

Corrosion resistance:

This is one of the most important chemical properties of 316L stainless steel coils. It exhibits excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, particularly in chloride-rich environments. Antioxidation:

Chemical stability:

In general chemical media, 316L stainless steel coils exhibit high chemical stability and are not prone to reacting with common chemicals. Proper selection of material grade is essential for such environments.

Passivation:

After exposure to air or after passivation treatment, a dense passivation film forms on the surface of 316L stainless steel coils. This passivation film enhances corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance. Passivation treatment typically involves immersing the stainless steel coil in a solution containing an oxidant, such as nitric acid or citric acid, to promote the formation and repair of the protective layer.
